Sam’s Good News

Sam had his follow up with Dr. Kest yesterday (7/24) and to get the pathology report from his laser surgery.

It was Stage I throat cancer. The pathology report showed that all margins were free of cancer cells and that all of the cancer was removed by the surgery. It was Squamous Cell cancer which grew outward and allowed the doctor to remove all of the cells. The treatment is close surveillance with follow up to begin every 2 months for a while and then stretch out to every 3 months and them to every 6 months.

Thank you God for answering all of the prayers and healing Sam.

Happy 50th birthday, Curt!

Today the love of my life turned 50 years old! He doesn't look 50, he doesn't think 50, and he certainly doesn't act 50! We treated him to a nice dinner at Outback with a beautiful birthday cake. Ora Kay and Patty helped us celebrate. It really is nice being close to family at times like this. I hope I get to see Curt celebrate his next 50 years!

Sam Stubblefield

Sam had laser surgery on his vocal cord and larynx done Friday (7/13/07) at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. Dr. Kest said it was cancer and that he felt confident he removed all of cancerous tissue. Sam did come home today and seems to be doing OK. We don’t know any particulars of what the next steps may be and will find that out after they do the pathology on the tissue. Sam said he wanted to come out of this with a voice like Tom Brokaw, but sounded more like Henry Kissinger, so he still has some humor about all of this.

He had been having some problems earlier this year with getting hoarse and having some symptoms that would go along with a cold. Feeling like you had drainage and a scratchy throat. He had plaque scrapped from his vocal cords in mid January to correct this problem. A few weeks ago, the problem returned and Sam said he just thought it was a cold or possible the plaque had come back.

God has answered one prayer in healing Sam of this problem. Our next prayer request is that God will protect Sam through the follow up and give him his full voice and health back.
